Seirian is a single mum from Sheffield who cares for her 12 year old son Jonah with Down Syndrome, in addition to her younger son Benjamin.

She hadn’t taken a break for 6 years before Carefree and struggles to think of what life was like before becoming a parent of a child with significant additional needs. When she goes on a break she tends to take her other son with her, conscious of the impact that helping to care for his older brother has on him too.

Seirian wishes more people recognised the emotional toll of being a parent carer and what a difference it makes to feel recognised and supported for that role.
